Gabbinbar State School proudly recognised International Week of Deaf People with a special Auslan assembly celebrating Deaf culture, inclusion and equal rights. Students used Auslan throughout the assembly to share what they have learned in class and highlight how Auslan helps bridge the gap between Deaf and hearing people, creating opportunities for everyone to communicate and connect.
Deaf Auslan Language Model (ALM) Zena praised the enthusiasm shown by students and staff, while Heather (Year 2) and Godfrey (Year 5) were recognised as Auslan Students of the Week for their commitment to learning and using Auslan. The assembly was a wonderful celebration of our school's ongoing Auslan journey and commitment to creating a community where everyone belongs.
